But It IS OK....

The NZ Herald is reporting this morning that Trevor Mallard "is refusing to apologise to a whistleblower who he attacked as incompetent and sad, despite the Environment Ministry yesterday saying her work was "of good quality".. Here's the link:

John Armstrong climbs into him as well

Trevor need's to heed his own government's advice - it IS OK to ask for help, to which I will add, it IS OK to apologise when you make a stuff-up. In fact, and this may surprise the government, people's respect for you actually RISES when you 'fess up and try to put things right - but it would seem that Labour doesn't do humility.

I know this from bitter experience. I've made lots of stuff-ups in 50+ years. I've been through a marriage break-up. I've hurt people and breached trust. I reached a point where I had to be totally honest with myself, with others, and put things right. And along the way, I learnt that I am loved and accepted unconditionally.

So Trevor - apologise to Erin Leigh. People will think far better of you than they do when they read the paper this morning.

Sure trevor should apologise. Erin's made very clear what apology she will accept: Trevor must resign and settle her defamation action out of court. That is the only possible personal apology.

What's more Trevor needs to take ministerial responsibility for his incompetent department: that also demands his resignation.

Hmm, two resignations plus a large payout. If Erin won a criminal defamation suit, well that's would take Trev out of parliament --- so really he needs to resign as a minister and resign from parliament and decline his huge pension as well.

It's the only honourable course left.

Hopefully somehow the Nats will win next year; and they will take David Farrah's suggestion of a thoroughgoing investigation into corruption in the Labour government. Which would end up with Trev joining Helen, Cullen and the rest of the in gaol for a very very long time, and the Labour party and their union buddies disestablished.

Hi inventory,
I'm a bit quiet on my own blog of late. I am formulating a twin-project;
I want to read and discuss the Hollow Men book (it's on order from the Library I ain't buying a copy!)
I also want to open the debate on what union involvement in electioneering is worth to labour in time and money and why it is not accounted for under the EFB.
I'd like to see a Royal COmmission on this and other aspects of electoral reform, seein as some are so keen to establish a 'level playing field'.
What do you think?

We don't need a Royal Commission on electoral reform: it's quite clear what sensible rules should be and also very clear that if the Nats are allowed to form a government those rules will be put in place.

Where we do need a Royal Commission (or two) are first to investigate the blatant corruption of the 2005 and 2008 election - and the subsequent politicisastion of the public service; and second (or the same one) to investigate the corruption and bias spread by the Labour party and its associated unions. Actually again there isn't much of a question there, these people should be imprisoned, the organisations deregistered and any remaning assets forfeit to the crown, and all members banned from voting or otherwise participaing in the political process or working for the state in any capacity. What then remains is to ensure that this level of corruption never returns to NZ - and a standing commission, like the AUstralian ICAC, could do this, whith a comissioner (I'd appoint say Richard Prebble, or perhaps Roger Douglas) with the power to summarily declare civil servants, politicians, and organisations (like unions, parties, etc) as "Corrupt or Terrorist Organisations" with the obvious consequnces for them and their members.

Hi Lee

Good to see your thoughts - good luck with The Hollow Men - it's hard going! I went to school with Nicky Hager many years ago - he was as boring as batshit then, and on the evidence of THM, not much has changed!

Interested in your other plans - feel free to drop me a line to Inventory2@gmail.com if you want to discuss in greater detail. Menawhile, good to see Key say once and for all where National stands on the EFB - "it's gone!".
