Bring on the cricket!

You beauty! My Sky decoder is already set to channel #30 at 9.30pm tonight for live coverage of the first test bewteen England and New Zealand. The Lord's test, traditionally the first test of the English season is always a special occasion, and I'll be ready! The timing is great - the first session will run to about midnight, then it'll be time to turn the video on!

Regular readers will know that I am a cricket tragic, and despite all the froth of the IPL, test cricket is still, and will always be the ultimate for this devotee. The Black Caps are inexperienced, but if they can't get "up" for a test match at Lord's, the home of cricket, one would have to wonder if they are even breathing!

I have a list of sporting events I want to take in before my days on God's earth are done, and watching New Zealand play Mother England at Lord's is right near the top, along with an Open Chmpionship at St Andrew's. Meanwhile, I'll have to make do with the telly.......

For me apart from Lords, a boxing day test at the MCG and a test, any test, at Bridgetown, Barbados

Hi Adam - yep, Boxing Day at Melbourne is definitely on the list, if the Aussies would ever offer us that prime spot! Not so sure about Barbados though - just let me have five days in the Mound Stand at Lord's and I'll be in seventh heaven!

I will be with until at least drinks.

MCG Boxing Day and at least one day of any test at Lords are on my list of things to do before I die.

We had a builder doing a couple of small jobs for us today - he says his son will be in a corporate box at Lords tonight.

I have become dyslexic I think - first line should read:

I will be with you until at least drinks.

Mrs I is out of town tonight, so I shall retire to bed shortly and settle in to watch on the bedroom telly. Hopefully Vetorri will win the toss and we have a bowl at the England lads while the Lord's track is doing a bit. With the Duke ball, and the early season conditions, we've actually got a pretty handy attack with Martin, Mills & Southee all able to swing the ball.

Bugger it!! It's drizzling at Lord's.

Well the first days play (however brief) went exactly to script. All the black cps were shite, with Mccullum the light relief. He certainly rides his luck, his shot selection was shithouse as usual but a face saving innings for the kiwis.
I have done the mcg thing, did an ashes tour to oz (the tour before the england series win)took in every test except perth and a goodly portion of the odi's. Spent time at Lords as a kid for tests and county games. However the absolute peak for me was visiting the adelaide oval. 45 degree heat aside it is the nicest cricket ground I have ever watched cricket at.
The weirdest was the telstra dome in melbourne with the roof shut.
My pick for this morning (weather dependant) is Kiwis out within 90 minutes. England to wobble but post 450 by close of play tomorrow. Kiwis to hit a quick fire 200 and then England win by lunch on day 5.
if you are a cricket tragic IV2, might I suggest you mosey across to sportsfreak . co . nz they have a very good forum

You could be right Bill, but if Oram & Vettori can get in (and the new ball is 28 overs away), the Kiwis could nudge up towards 300.

One thing about being a Kiwi cricket tragic - you have to be an eternal optimist!!

Oram looked completely out of sorts yesterday. Vettori will confound everybody with his complete lack of orthodox batting technique, but should get a few.
The disappointment for me yesterday was sidebottom, he bowled very well without success. These England tests are the worst for me because I have to watch every ball. Plays hell with the body clock not to mention the marriage.

Oram looked pretty uncomfortable today. The one positive is that New Zealand has a good attack for the conditions at Lord's today.

I'll watch until lunch - then the video will go on & I can catch up on the rest of the day in the morning.
