Brenden Sheehan withdraws

Brenden Sheehan has withdrawn from the Labour candidacy for the new Botany electorate, citing family illness. This is no great surprise, but the inescapable conclusion is that he was pushed, rather than jumping.

Sheehan has visited a few right-leaning blogs, and whilst he should be commended for posting under his own name, he provided his opponents with an abundance of cannon-fodder. His comments are not what you would normally expect from an aspiring political candidate. He would have been an absolute liability for Labour. His withdrawl will surprise few, but will make the Botany contest far less colourful, even if for all the wrong reasons!
