Watch this space!

The first story is up:

Clark: Glenn told me of donation in February
12:00PM Thursday August 28, 2008

Helen Clark said today that billionaire Owen Glenn told her in February that he donated $100,000 to New Zealand First.

The Prime Minister then put that information to the party's leader Winston Peters at the time and he gave her an assurance then that the party had not received money from Mr Glenn.

This new information this morning means Helen Clark has known for months of the conflicting sides of the story which were publicly revealed yesterday in letters to Parliament's privileges committee.

The conversation between the Prime Minister and Owen Glenn came before Mr Peters' now infamous "NO" press conference at which he said the party had not received a dollar from the ex-pat businessman.

* More soon

Clark is putting out fires. Glenn was going to release this information soon. She is guilty by association. Time to troll through hansard and see if everything lines up. I think it will, but look very, very dodgy.

And why, as Prime Minister did she not release this information earlier on?

Boomtownprat

Did she believe Owen Glenn at the time?

What possible motivation would Owen Glenn have for lying "before" all this blew up?

What more is to come?

Clark MUST resign. She knew Peters had lied, but she kept him on as a Minister purely for her political benefit. This is corrupt behaviour, and at the very least she has misled Parliament.

Christ, who would have believed this could happen in NZ politics. Have to say we all thought Helen and Mike Williams must have known. Overall, who else could have put WP onto OG. Never thought she would own up to it though.

Rodney Hide is right - we are living in a banana republic.

You went pretty easy on Jafapete on his post don't you think.

This whole affair is disgraceful and brings all of us as well as our politics into disrepute.

Gee thanks, showmethetaxcut. Perhaps I2 remembered that he denounced attempts to interfere with the principle of innocent until proven guilty as "liberal lunacy" not so long ago! q.v.: http://keepingstock.blogspot.com/2008/07/presumption-of-innocence.html

This is not about natural justice.

Ministers are expected to maintain the highest ethical standards - forget about the law.

Both HC and WP have not maintained those standards.
