Greens Make ETS Plea To Public
By Political Correspondent Marie McNicholas at 1:45 pm, 21 Aug 2008
The Green Party is making an eleventh hour plea to the public to help it decide whether to support the Government's emission trading scheme.
Party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons says Green MPs will make a decision next Tuesday and she took the unusual step today of revealing some of the progress made in negotiations with the Government over the design of the scheme.
At a press conference underway in Wellington she denied they were too frightened to make a call on the legislation.
Both Green Party and New Zealand First support is critical if the bill to set up the emissions trading scheme is to survive.

So tell the Greens what you think. I will be reminding them of the mess that the government and its support parties made of the Electoral Finance Act by trying to rush it through, despite abundant advice to the contrary.
Here's our chance to have some influence in the political process
UPDATE: Adam Smith at The Inquiring Mind rightly points out that the Greens would appreciated all correspondence being directed to ets@greens.org.nz

Well said we were on same wavelength
Congrats on Tumeke ranking
It's a crap idea. The entire scheme to be decided, not by elected representatives, but by a handful of people by email.

Okay.. from amateur political analysis:
- This is a stunt; the Greens no exactly what they want to do, they just want the attention.
- The Greens may want to keep this issue alive for the election campaign i.e. give 'warming worriers' a reason to vote for the Greens.
