To the Point

To the Point is a column in the Dominion-Post where short, pithy letters are published. And this one stood out in yesterday's column:

Tasman and Northland have been dumped from next year's NZRU provincial championship and the Northland Rugby Union chairman says Northland will challenge the decision legally. As the chairman is Winston Peters' brother Wayne, is he able to use the bottomless Spencer Trust to fund the legal challenge?

Murray Hunter, Waitakere City

Aha! Could this be NZ First's survival strategy? And is this what Michael Laws was talking about when he said in this week's Listener:

If you donated money to Winston or NZ First you knew it went somewhere in the better interests...if you were trying to keep Winston out of the bankruptcy courts because it went to pay his legal bills or some sort of judgment...well, you just sort of shrugged your shoulders and went 'well, that's in the best interests of NZ First anyhow'.
