The Friday Forum - 26/9/08

It's Friday again - where has this week gone? And only six more Friday Forums until the election - bring it on!

So there's plenty to debate today - John Key's gaffe, the Clark/Peters axis, and who has what over whom, and of course, there's a lot of buzz at the moment about a VERY big story about to break which isn't going to reflect well on the government or the Police.

So welcome in. This is YOUR place to have your say, rant, rave and generally get things out of your sytem before a relaxing weekend.

I hope those of you who will be playing in the extra hour of evening light when the clocks go forward on Sunday enjoy it becuase those of us who have to work in the mornings won't be happy when we wake to an extra hour of dark: http://homepaddock.wordpress.com/2008/09/26/darker-dawn-doesnt-do-it-for-me/

I did notice that it was rather light when the alarm went at 5.00am this morning!

Personally speaking, I love daylight saving - there's nowt better at the end of a tough day than to go up to the deck, flip the tab off a cold one, and watch the sun disappear into the Tasman....

I2 - I don;'t complain in the middle of summer but in spring and autumn it's too cold in the evenings to enjoy the extra light and far too dark in the mornings.

I am with you Hp.

The weather in Hawkes Bay doesn't settle until after Labour Weekend at the earliest and my late father, a canny scot, always said there will be a frost in November.

So much for Global Warming - he is always proved right and I bet it will be the case again this year.

PDM - good to know I won't be the only one waking up grumpy :)

Mrs Inventory wakes up grumpy most mornings, but the other days she lets me sleep in!!

When daylight saving was first introduced by a Labour Government, I was involved in delivering political pamphlets, on several evenings, in a large town. The demographic was of a young healthy population, full employment, well paid, lots of sporting opportunities. What was most remarkable to me was that almost none of the residents of the hundreds of homes I visited spent the new extra daylight outdoors.

daylight saving isn't about "more daylight"

if you cared about that you could always get your lazy benefit-bludging-bum up out of bed earlier!

it's about one thing: saving power on heat & light
so labour can get by without building more power stations like any first would country would -

because Labour have flushed all the country's money away on welfare and benefits!

instead of building the things hardworking Kiwis need.
