Steve Chadwick should stick to singing...

...not that she's especially good at it, if her rendition of The Gambler at the Labour Party's election-year congress earlier in the year was any indication. But she should avoid answering questions on behalf of the Minister of Health - check this out from yesterday:

Hon Tony Ryall: Is the Minister saying that this Government has spent millions and millions of dollars building new hospitals, doubled the health budget, and apparently invested in the health workforce, yet the husbands of women facing 15-week delays for radiation treatment have to ring the office of the Minister of Health to plead for treatment, and is that the shameful, shameful state of affairs in health in New Zealand today?

Hon STEVE CHADWICK: Unduly dramatic really, is it not?

This was an amazingly insensitive response from the Associate Minister of Health to a serious question from Tony Ryall, having already conformed that a husband HAD made a plea to the Minister's office. But it speaks volumes for just how out-of-touch the Labour/NZ First government has become. The election cannot come around soon enough!
