The Monday Quote - 3/11/2008

With any luck, today might be the last time that PRIME MINISTER Helen Clark is acknowledged by Keeping Stock with a Monday Quote award. However, Keeping Stock will be delighted to continue to acknowledge her under the sobriquet of FORMER Prime Minister. Anyway, she earns recognition today for these answers to questions from Jonathon Milne in the Herald on Sunday yesterday:

Would you have confidence in him as a minister in the future?

I would have no difficulty working with him in the future.

As a minister?

No difficulty. I take people as I find them, and I'm perfectly satisfied with the job he did.

You'd be happy to see him as foreign minister again?

All I'm saying is, I'm perfectly prepared to work with Winston Peters again, and I consider that his party operated honourably in the relationship it had with us.

There was a similar exchange with Paul Henry on TV this morning after he asked her if she could trust Peters.

This may be the last time you use Clark as Prime Minister. However there will be plenty of opportunities after the election when she loses.

She will be rabid and venal and blame everyone but herself.
