There are no quibbles from Keeping Stock over the selection of World and Olympic shot-put champion Valerie Vili as the Supreme winner at the HalbergAwards last night - or the Valbergs, as this morning's Herald christen the awards.
Vili beat off Sportsman of the Year Scott Dixon and Team of the Year, the Evers-Swindell twins to win her second consecutive Halberg Supreme accolade. And what a journey she's had! It's hard to believe that Vili is only 24 - she seems to have been on the world stage forever. Popular wisdom suggests that she is still some years from her prime, which bodes well for the London Olympics in 2012 and beyond.
Well done Valerie Vili.
