No, it's got nothing to do with National and Labour! Hamilton will rock this weekend to the incomparable sound of high-performance V8's as the Ford versus Holden battle which is the V8Supercars hits the city streets.
Last year's event was a huge success, and the organisers have done a lot of fine-tuning to make this year's event even better. And in these days of supposed recession, the sound of ringing cash registers and beeping EFT-POS machines will be a huge tonic to businesses thoughout the Waikato. We'd love to be among the crowd this year, but circumstances have dictated otherwise - perhaps next year.
Meanwhile we wonder if the burghers of Wellington and especially Auckland will be smelling the scent of a missed opportunity this weekend.
