The Friday Forum - 1/05/09

Yippee; it's Friday again! And it's May Day too, but rest assured; there will be no flying of red flags at Keeping Stock today, or any other day!

But it is time for the Friday Forum, so come on in and have your say. It's open slather, so let rip on your pet hate, and get it out of your system before the weekend. You'll appreciate us for it, you really will!!

The floor is yours...

The idiot policeman who suggested that you don't ever fight with criminals, you just rollover. Even if they fire a warning shot.

On the same week that a women recounted how she was being forced into the boot of a car by a kidnapper, and decided she was dead if he closed the boot, so she fought back, and escaped.

On the same week that the Justice Department announce collecting fines from repeat offenders who don't pay is too much trouble, so they'll only go for middle class who have jobs.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Oh, I meant to mention the idiot policeman was in the process of thinking about charging a person who fought against an armed attacker, and shot the criminal in the leg with the criminal's weapon.

Grrrrrrrr!

Zen Tiger there are still some good policemen about as evidenced by the actions of two off duty policemen last Friday and Monday.

Inspector Michael O'Leary saved two boys from death, at great personal risk, following a motor vehicle accident north of Taupo last Friday.

On Monday an off duty policewoman apparently made a huge effort to save the life of a truck driver who went off the road south of Taupo.

Despite the best efforts of Labour to `dumb down' the police force all is not total doom and gloom in the force. Having said that it will need change at the top and time to change the attitudes of a large number of the force.

Excellent comments ZT and pdm. I firmly believe that the vast majority of police officers are top-shelf, but they are hamstrung by their top brass. Police National HQ has a lot to answer for, not the least being for the way that the police became polticised following the forced resignation of Peter Doone. Let's hope that the new government can restore some sanity here, and restore the police's credibility.

Agreed INV2 and obviously the courts area needs sorting out as well. Based on what I saw on QT the other day I am not sure if Georgina Te Heu Heu is the person to do that on her own. She may need help from Simon Powe.

I sold Simon short - he needs to be Power last line.
