New Zealand Music Month - 22/5/2009

We lived in Auckland for a while in the late 1970's when punk ruled - OK? And the Auckland punk scene was pretty out-there. We never made it to the legendary Zwines nightclub, but oftern visited the Windsor Castle in Parnell Road to see bands such as Toy Love, Suburban Reptiles and The Scavengers perform.

And it's to the latter we go this morning - the band comprised such artistes (they were actually graphic arts students!) as Johnny Volume, Ronnie Recent and Des Truction, and the Scavs had something of a hit with this song - Mysterex, with its classic anti-establishment line

A nine-to-fiver; social climber; oh yeah!

Enjoy!

"True Love" was also good.

"We met outside the IGA, true love works in funny ways..."
