We are loathe to be too critical of the New Zealand Police on a day when they farewell one of their own, so we will merely pose a question to ponder.
Roarprawn displays a letter from the Police to Matthew Hooten's office in response to an OIA request. It confirms that the Police were first notified of the theft of Don Brash's e-mails on 30 August 2005. It also confirms that the police began their investigation on 28 September 2006.
So here's the question - just what were the Police doing for 13 months?
