It's 14 July, and of course, that is the most significant day of the year for our French friends - Bastille Day.
So to mark the day, here's some highlights of one of France's more famous victories over the All Blacks. The match was played at Eden Park on Bastille Day 1979 - 30 years ago today - and if you look REALLY closely, you might get a glimpse of us on the terraces! Then again, there was a full house that day, so maybe not - but we were there!
The French that day played sublime rugby and thoroughly deserved their win. Led by the inspiration Jean-Pierre Rives, the French were simply magnifique. To make things even better for our Gallic friends, the commentary is in French, but you still get the picture. And there are a few notables - a rousing rendition of La Marseillaise played by a brass band, not sung by some minor celebrity, and in Bevan Wilson, a toe-kicking goal-kicker for the All Blacks - from memory, the last such practitioner. So enjoy this piece of Francophile nostalgia!
