Telstra-Clear's shame

Bully-boy tactics are alive and well this morning. On Wednesday night, Gregory Edwards started a Facebook group about Clayton Weatherston. As of a couple of minutes ago, his group has almost 200 members. But it may not last for long.

Gregory sent out an e-mail to group members this morning. It began:

As I have expected, someone has made a complaint to facebook about this group, and has made the claim that it is a "hate-group", meaning that either this group and/or myself could be about to get kicked off.

I've also been told that a complaint has been made by some anonymous person to Telstra-Clear, my internet provider and like the weak at the knees tin-men they are they are all spooked out.

Telstra-Clear needs to realise that this is New Zealand, not China or Iran, and that we are allowed to express our opinions. We call on the company to pull its corporate head in, and not to bow to the wishes of the whingers and wowsers who have been given far too much say in what we think.

We didn't think particularly kindly of Clayton Weatherston before this group was formed, but having seen excerpts of his testimony on the TV over the last few nights, we think even less of him now. His excuse for this horrific crime seems to be one of hurt feelings. That's just tough. He should have thought about that before he took a knife into Sophie Elliott's bedroom, locked the door and then cut and mutilated her. And we'll close with Gregory Edwards' own words:

Lastly, let us not forget that this group was set-up in outrage following the brutal MURDER of a young woman whose good name is being trampled upon by a sicko narcissistic, being aided and abetted in his vile fantasies by the media. Mr Weatherston might be getting his cheap little thrills out of being on TV every night, but the family of the victim are not.

Sophie Elliott can't talk back, but we still can.

Amen to that Gregory. C'mon Telstra-Clear - do you REALLY want your corporate identity forever linked to Clayton Weatherston?
