Worth claim withdrawn

The messy saga of Richard Worth has taken another turn today. The Dom-Post is reporting that the Korean woman who complained to the Police has now withdrawn her complaint. She has been quoted by 3News as saying that "the political fallout around Richard Worth has been sufficient, and going through the courts would have been an additional ordeal that would have gained little."

Now that's rather interesting. We wonder if THIS woman's details are on the Grasroots Labour website, or whether she knows Neelam Choudary, or for that matter, Phil Goff. Perhaps we're getting cynical in our old age, but there DO seem to have been some rather strange forces at work throughout this affair (if you'll pardon the pun). It seems now that this woman's sole motivation was to destroy Worth's political career, and that being the case, she has succeeded.

None of this of course absolves Worth, even though the police concede, according to 3News, that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. He has, in our considered opinion made some major lapses in judgment, and John Key and National are well rid of him.
