In 2004 Brown sensed God calling him back into music in a different guise, and his new band Day of Fire was born. Explaining the band's name, he told an interviewer:
When we were in LA recording the record, we didn't have a name for the band. I was just sitting in my bed thinking of the day God delivered me, the day that God healed me of drug addiction. And I was also thinking of the day of Pentacost and the day the Holy Spirit fell upon the earth and gave people the power to step away from themselves. And that is what Day of Fire is to me. It's the day that your heart gets ignited and set on fire for God. And it's the day that God ceases to be a religion and he's actually a real person in your life.
Church cannot change somebody's heart, a religious system, a book of morals, none of that can change somebody's heart. It's only the living God, it's only the Holy Spirit through Jesus Christ that can. That's why I'm back into music. Because God showed me that if I will use whatever talent I have, whatever He's given me, to tell about Him and what He has done in my life, then He will give other people their own personal days of fire. And I've seen that.
We first saw Day of Fire play at the Parachute Festival in 2005, and when the band returned in 2006, we were there in the mosh-pit, to the horror of our Darling Daughter. We're rockers from way back, and Day of Fire pressed all our buttons!
So to today's song - Cornerstone, from the band's self-titled debut album. But in preparing this thread, we had a dilemma; we found two videos of the song, one done by a fan, and one of a live performance. What to do? After some vigorous debate between me, myself and I, we came up with a solution - put them both up! So here, for your enjoyment - Day of Fire! This is the studio version of the song...
And then there's THIS version - Day of Fire live, filmed by a punter from the audience on a handycam - the sound quality's not great - nowhere near enough bass!!
You can find the song's lyrics here.

I also saw DoF at Parachute in 2006. Steered clear of the mosh-pit though - too old and too fat!
MacDoc - Darling Daughter's horror at my visit to the DoF mosh-pit was probably largely BECAUSE I'm old and fat!! And balding too!! But Day of Fire rocks, and Joshua Brown has some serious ink on his arms and neck - a stereotypical rocker - and yet when we chatted to him at the meet and greet, he has the most gentle spirit - a great guy, and living proof that God indeed works in mysterious ways!
