Anywhere but here...

That's where we're wishing we were at the moment. Wednesday afternoon is normally golf time, but the piles of work on the desk were too big to walk away from today. Failing that, we'd far rather be at home, in front of the large TV, watching the Black Caps playing the Aussies in crystal-clear HD.

So we're having to make do with a combination of RadioSport which has been dropping in and out, and Cricinfo. To say that we're frustrated is an understatement! The Aussies got away to a flyer, but both openers (Watson and Haddin) are out; and as we paused to drink our cuppa, Michael Clark perished - Australia 100 for three after 18 overs.

Stay tuned ....

UPDATE: Ponting's gone - 148-4 off 26 overs

UPDATE#2: Cameron White clean bowled by Daryl Tuffey - 176-5 after 35 overs; the Black Caps' bowlers have done an excellent job in dragging the run-rate bag to fives

UPDATE #3: Tim Southee strikes during the batting power-play. Australia 244-6 with three overs to go. It's been an excellent bowling and fielding effort from the Kiwis.

UPDATE#4: Mike Hussey goes, bowled by Bond after hitting a streaky inside-edge for four from the previous ball. The batting power-play has favoured the bowling team. Australia 253-7; two overs to go and two new batsmen at the crease.

HALF-TIME UPDATE: Australia ends at 275 for eight. That's a gettable score at Napier on an excellent batting pitch, shortish boundaries and a lightening-fast outfield. But it will also take a top batting effort, especially from the top four. This match is beautifully poised!

UPDATE #6: New Zealand 107 for three, and there's a lot resting on Ross Taylor's shoulders now. We have a sneaky feeling that Scott Styris is going to play a significant role before the night is out ...

UPDATE #7: Ross Taylor is starting to cut loose; he's gone through to 55, and he and James Franklin have added over 60 for the fourth wicket. 171 for three; 105 needed off 18 overs with a batting power-play to come; we're starting to get excited ....

FINAL UPDATE: Oh yes! We did indeed get excited - and check out the prophesy in Update #6 ....

What a cracking good match!

What is happening with the NZ batting order - where the hell is Oram?

BTW is Vettori injured?

Oram left the field after a fall, but will bat if the game is in the balance. He's done a knee (hyperextended), and is probably out for the series.

Vettori has a neck injury.

It's not over 'til it's over though; Daryl Tuffey is playing shots all round the ground!

Oram is a big Jesse. Tape it up and play with a runner. For the team, not the ICL.

Only watched the last three overs as I have been a bit of a Jonah resently. Destroying, sort of, cars and boats so I didn't want to spread the bad luck.

Great result with Styris and Bond standing and delivering.

Punter will not be a happy camper.

Oram's knackered as far as I know Alex - I doubt that he'll make the IPL
