We opined the other day that the Black Caps have a good chance at the ICC World T-20 tournament. So we bristled when we read this on Stuff a moment ago:
Black Caps bowling spearhead Shane Bond says the team are full of self-belief as they target Twenty20 glory in the Caribbean.
Fresh from a win over last year's finalists Sri Lanka, the Guyana-based Black Caps take on Zimbabwe early Wednesday morning (NZ time), where a win will send them through to the Super Eights.
Though his own efforts have been blunted by dull pitches, the first-up win after going unbeaten in the warm ups, added to the feeling that the world title was within their grasp, Bond said.
Now we've been following New Zealand cricket for a lot longer than Shane Bond, bless his heart. We've seen countless players come and go who talked a good game. Almost without exception, it ends in tears!
So here's our heartfelt advice to Bondie, Dan, Rossco, BMac and anyone else the cricket media approaches for a quote; shut up! We mean that in the nicest possible way of course. We really do believe that the Black Caps could do very well in this tournament, but let's see the talking done where it matters; in the middle.
Rant over!

Bond should know better.
Comments like that should be banned.
Theres people like India and Australia to play yet.
Indeed Alex - if we win the tournament, they'll be plenty of time to gloat. Until then - shhhhhh
Inv and all.
May I point you to this online petition
You might think it’s only Chelsea v Portsmouth, but this is the thin end of the wedge. If they get away with it this year, then it will only finals involving ManUre that get shown on NZTV.
And if the petition is successful (I reckon >1000 people) then they won’t try it again.
Spread the word.
Cheers for that LB - we can't have The Scum getting preferential treatment no, especially seeing as London is now the power base of English football.
I2, you use the "w" word.
Wash your mouth out with some whisky.
Using that word is like uttering the name of the Scottish Play!
Thanks for that Alex, although you'll note that I DID preface the "w" word with "if".
But yes, I'll do the penance you suggest; now, where's the Glenmorangie bottle?
