The expenses saga involving former Labour ministers is having a wider impact on the party and its leader Phil Goff.
They have taken significant hit in 3 News’ latest Reid Research poll.
National are up 3.2 percent to 55.3 percent, Labour are down 3.3 percent to 30.5 percent and the Greens are down to 7.7 percent.
And the news doesn't get any better for Phil Goff:
John Key still holds a huge lead as preferred Prime Minister, with 49.6 percent of the votes, Phil Goff has just 5.1 percent, down 7.5 percent. Mr Goff is only just holding off Helen Clark - on 4.9 percent.
Despite the hard line Mr Goff took on his MPs over the expenses scandal, voters are just not supporting him.
Now let's see; GST increase, whaling, mining, the ETS, the Foreshore and Seabed; Labour has no shortage of fronts on which to attack the government. The problem for Phil Goff and Labour though is that the phone is not only still off the hook, it's been disconnected, it's been torn off the wall and thrown in the bin.
What chance that by the end of this week, Maryan Street will lead the Labour Party?
And as if it wasn't ALREADY bad enough for Phil Goff, this happens!
