The beginning of the end?

The Herald reports that Shane Jones might be considering a career change - check this out:

Labour MP Shane Jones, who used his ministerial credit card to pay for porn movies, is trying out a new job that could lead to him quitting Parliament, it was reported tonight.

TV3 News said Mr Jones had agreed to host a RadioLive programme next week and it could turn into a fulltime job.

Mr Jones said it was too soon to say what his future might be and he had to find out whether he was any good on air.

That's happened with a hiss and a roar. It's only three weeks ago that the revelations of Jones' film buff (or should that be buff films?) habits emerged. The Herald story though suggests that Jones is history as far as Labour is concerned - read on:

Party leader Phil Goff demoted him and stripped him of his portfolio responsibilities.

Mr Jones said he was determined to rehabilitate himself, although his chances of gaining an important position in his party are considered to be zero.

Hmmm - we wonder if David Cunliffe had a celebratory drink tonight. The news that Andrew Little is having a crack at Labour's New Plymouth nomination might temper Cunners' glee somewhat however.

Interesting times await us.
