Escape from the Crypt

Yes, it sounds like a horror movie title, and in some ways, it is. Winston Peters has addressed the faithful in Rangiora this afternoon. We're not going to dignify his return by rehashing large sections of his speech; in fact we were sorely tempted to ignore it altogether, but let's face it; Winston Peters does have a quality of newsworthiness around him.

If you're a masochist, you can read his speech here; let's just say that whilst it's not "vintage Winston", it's full of headline-grabbers like “NZ For Sale”, and Winstonisms such as "This level of irresponsibility borders on the treasonous." Winston Peters never does things by halves.

Can he return? Frankly, we hope not. Winston Peters has the gift of the gab and a million-dollar smile, but his policies are divisive, and he has proved that, far from being the only honest politician in the land, he is as much a trougher as any. We can think of at least 158,000 reasons not to vote for Winston Peters and New Zealand First!

Craig Foss loses my electorate vote if there is any suggestion that National will deal with Peters after the election.

As I've pointed out pdm, the suggestion has already been made by Key. That's a cross beside Foss's name.
Right there.

This charlaton (I am holding back here) will be gone only after his death is confirmed by the coroner and the time to review that decision is passed. His ill-begotton largess to the racing industry was a disgrace not the commercial aspect although that is also debatable, welfare IMHO, but the very quiet and under the radar way it was decided and delivered, His rorting of electoral finance reporting, his total refusal to account for the identified illegal spending of the $158 000, his paranoid responses to any questioning of his relationships with shadowy figures inside and outside politics and his cavalier attitude to lawful activity in general leave him as one of our most venal politicians ever.
That said for those dissatisfied with the Key administration, dissillusion with the move by Act to a populist philosophy and an abhorance of the socialists will alas drift to NZ First with a clothes peg on their nose. This danger seems to be largely ignored by far too many in National Party planning.

Not worried Robert; concerned. Concerned for New Zealand.

Robert whatever limited credibility you had has evaporated with your obvious support for the most corrupt politician in my 43 years of voting.

The upside is that if NZF become more popular than Labour our political landscape will become a 3 party state rather than 2. Can't be all bad.
