They have them in South Africa too!

There are a few "loose units" in the New Zealand blogosphere. Indeed, we've attracted one or two ourselves, which just adds to the colour and diversity of it all.

But we've found that it's not a uniquely New Zealand phenomenon. We wemt looking for a South African perspective on a remarkable rugby test this morning, and at the foot a Sunday Times story under the brilliant headline Israel smites Boks, a commenter by the name of Adolf (does that give you a clue to what follows?) has posted this:

It was really disgusting to see the like of Winnie Mandela, Khoza and other prominent black people being at the stadium and supporting the racist Springboks who are simply refusing to transform the team to a non racist squad.

Anyway I enjoyed those racist springboks getting mauled once again by the New Zealanders

Winnie Mandela singing the old NP apartheid national anthem.. I never thought that I would see that in my life

Yes indeed dear readers; "wingnuts" (as Lynn Prentice at The Standard labels anyone who disagrees with him) exist throughout the blogosphere. We don't know whether that is vaguely comforting, or something to worry about!

Quite agree....Winnie should not be allowed to sing the 'old NP apartheid national anthem'. We can't have this disgusting woman sully this beautiful apolitical poem, written in 1918 and put to music in 1921 (the Nats only got into power in 1948).

On the other hand Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrica was composed as a hymn by a missionary in 1897. It is also hauntingly beautiful. Perhaps it should always have been our anthem - but has been stolen by at least 4 other Southern Countries.
