The clock's ticking for Len ...

Len Brown will be kicking himself (and Conor Roberts and David Lewis) tonight. He had one minute of prime-time radio this morning on New Zealand's highest rating station to present his credentials for the Supercity mayoralty. So did his main rival, John Banks.

Have a listen to this, and compare the performances. Banks used every second, in a polished performance. By contrast, Len Brown spoke for just 36 seconds (WhaleOil timed it), after which there were 24 seconds of silence, punctuated only by the ticking of the clock. The silence was deafening. It was as though Len Brown had nothing to say.

We reckon that this morning's performance was prophetic. The clock is really ticking on Len Brown's bid for the Auckland mayoralty.

Even the 40 seconds (I am a generous bastard) was barely audible and the bits that came through were drivel. Banks, who I have reservations about with some of his past efforts, portrayed himself as articulate, organised and credible and finished on the 60 second signal which gave a clear impression he had actually done a bit of prep as opposed to Len who seemed to have just got out of bed lol.
