Jim the Prophet

Jim Anderton must be struggling with all the media attention that Bob Parker is getting - have a read of this, from the Herald (our emphasis added):

Christchurch mayoral aspirant Jim Anderton told CTV on Friday that it would take an earthquake for him to lose the election race against incumbent mayor Bob Parker.

The Wigram MP says is able to see the funny side of what has happened.

He says there has been an earthquake, now he will just have to see how the campaign goes. He says he will ask that contributions he expected at a now-cancelled campaign fundraiser be donated to the mayor's fund.

Note to Jim; there's nothing funny at all in what has happened. We don't have a particularly large amount of time for Bob Parker, but Parker's words and actions since the earthquake have been exactly what one would expect from the mayor of New Zealand's second-largest city. Perhaps Jim should lets his actions speak louder than his words, but also refrain from any more prophesy.

"Christchurch mayoral aspirant Jim Anderton told CTV on Friday that it would take an earthquake for him to lose the election race against incumbent mayor Bob Parker."

Turned out this was a lie. Where's your retraction?

Why couldn't he just have said:

"I would need to be struck down by lighning to lose the Mayoral Election."
