Cr Ray has been at it again at the weekend. He's taken to Facebook like a duck to water, and via his Facebook profile he's announced that he will be leading a similar fundraising effort to give the good folk of Wanganui the chance to extend a helping hand to our Cantabrian friends. The big day will be Friday 17th September; it would have been this Friday, but there's already an appeal on that day. Here's what Cr Ray has to say:
Ray Stevens Mayoral Candidate Christchurch Earthquake Appeal on Friday 17th Sept 10. Street appeal on the day and nite "Pub Run". Online banking number tomorrow posted. Lets make all Wanganui donations all come from same place and not get lost in the big national accounts. Let us all dig deep for our South Island neighbours...
We applaud Ray for his initiative in getting this up and running, and will be delighted to support his endeavours. Collectors will be out and about in the central city and at supermarkets in the daytime, and the legendary Ray's Angels will do the pub run on Friday night, without gang patches, of course. We've already been in touch with Ray and pledged our support.
C'mon Wanganui; lets dig deep!

I suspect that my Rotary Club, and every other one in the country will come to the plate as well.
We pull together otherwise we pull apart.
Quite so Alex. Mrs Inv and I have already decided that a percentage of revenue over the next fortnight will go towards the Council appeal. It could just have easily have been our city that was affected.
We have not had any loss (apart from sleep) but know several who have lost everything, so I'd like to extend on their behalf our deepest gratitude for any and all assistance rendered by the good people of Wanganui and anyone else who reads this and contributes.
Many, many thanks.
Ciaron.
