It didn't take long for the action to start at Bathurst. Craig Baird won't even get a drive on race-day after Fabian Coulthart's spectacular wipe-out on the first lap. Coulthart's car blew a tyre at the end of Conrod Straight at full speed, spun into the sand trap, and rolled violently.
Thanks to V8 Supercars' stringent safety regulations, Coulthart was shaken but not stirred, and uninjured. Not so his $400k missile which was totallled. Here's the moment:
