They should have known better too ...

We blogged earlier in the week about Marlene Campbell; the school principal who didn't realise that her postings could get her into strife. Hot on Ms Campbell's heels comes the story of two Labour MP's who most definitely should have known better. Phil Goff can relax though; they were UK Labour MP's - the Daily Mail reports:

Labour MPs shamelessly encouraged students rioting over tuition fees to ‘get stuck in’ via Twitter at the very moment they started smashing up Tory headquarters, it emerged last night.

Backbencher John McDonnell used the social networking site to tweet ‘just shows what can be done when people get angry. We must build on this’ as missiles were hurled at police.

Then as protesters started destroying the entrance to the Westminster building, MP Alex Cunningham tweeted: ‘Well done our students – thousands outside the office getting stuck into the LibDem / Tory government.’

Oh dear. That's not a good look at all. We'd always thought that MP's were sworn to uphold the law, not to encourage people to break it, merely to make a political statement. Perhaps the standards demanded of MP's in the British Parliament are not quite as high as those which we demand of our MP's here, especially with regard to the expenditure of public money!

Forgive me Inv, completely off-topic, but would just like to remind your readers the SPCA are currently holding their annual street appeal. They do an awesome job, with no government funding, and aren't eligible for Lottery Commission grants. The horrific animal cruelty cases that are publicised are merely the tip of an ever-growing iceberg, so dig deep if you can. Thanks, off my soap-box now!

It's not completely off-topic Suz, because people who abuse animals, like the coward jailed for throwing rocks at a seal should know better too.

So come on Dear Readers; dig deep for the SPCA today; they do a fantastic job!
