We see that on Parliament's Order Paper for today, Kris Fa'afoi's maiden speech is scheduled for 5.45pm this afternoon. Regardless of the fact that we disagree with his politics, it would be churlish not to wish him well for this significant occasion.
We do have some words of caution for him however. We reckon that it would be a good idea for Kris not to dwell too extensively on his childhood, especially when it involves matters of food. And we reckon that it might be a good idea for him to avoid phrases such as "I remember ... " lest a hungry House dissolve into pre-dinner mirth!

Hey Inv, where's your post on Man U's crushing 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Why are you dodging the difficult issues again? ;)
Maybe he will model it on Arnold Nordmeyers (one of the last of the "originals"), budget speach of 1958.
It was labeled the "black"budget and as Kris was undoubtably there, no one else in the house today will have a recollection so he will be on safe ground.
Jim Anderton was there then wasn't he GD?
Just read his speech on Red Alert.
He tells of his family coming from the Tokelauan atoll of Fakaofo.
He lavishes praise on everything Labour and, towards the end, on Phil Goff.
I wonder if Chris Carter has yet suggested to Kris that he invite Phil back to his home village in Tokelau.
