All good things must come to an end, so they say. And so it is with our much-anticipated Christmas holiday.
We'll be back at the coalface today, and now the process of catching up begins. But unlike last year and the year before, we've made plans, and our next holiday is already pretty much organised. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, as stepping off the treadmill has given both Mrs Inventory and ourselves the opportunity to reflect on just how burnt out we were.
Burnout is insidious; when you get caught up in the minutiae of day to day concerns, you lose a lot of perspective, and that is where we were at. But we'll be hitting the ground running today, refreshed after much pampering from the whanau whilst we were away. Attaining a better work-life balance will be a priority for the year ahead.
So, bring on the 2011 working year; we are ready for you!

I saw that in you Invent - the loss of perspective.
I'll do what I can to help you regain your equilibrium and see the world in a more reasonable way.
It's what I do :-)
Your kind offer is appreciated Robert, but like Brian in Life of Brian, we've worked it out for ourselves!
But you're right; we had lost our perspective; we were being FAR too charitabvle towards the Green party :)
Indeed you were Invent and if there's one thing the Green Party doesn't need, it's charitvle!
First day back at the desk Robert, so my fat fingers have to reconnect with a different keyboard!
Hell Inv with RG helping you it could get worse. Imagine if he brings along Judge Holden, D4J and a few other of the loose units around the blogshphere.
Interesting final Ashes test by the way and an absolute ripper at Cape Town between SA and India.
I think I can help you too pdm but it'll depend on your willingness to abandon your churlish ways.
Here ya go lads! Even WhaleOil has had a New Year epiphany and is praising Celia Wade-Brown (she's Greens-as Invent)

Cheers for that Robert. I was aware of Celia's green credentials, and can only admire her for spending her own money on her campaign. IIRC John Key has also put large sums of his own money towards campaigning, but that only drew scorn from the left because he is a Rich Prick.
Personally, I would far rather politicians of all hues put their own money where their mouths are, rather than relying on the taxes that you and I pay to do it for them.
