Former South African paceman Allan Donald has taken on the role as a bowling consultant for the Black Caps.
Donald has accepted a temporary position to work with the Black Caps immediately, Reuters reports.
Donald has been released from his contract in Zimbabwe, where he was head coach of the champion domestic franchise the Mountaineers.
And it is the appointment of John Wright that has been the catalyst for Donald's hiring - read on:
"But the opportunity to return to international cricket was irresistible and to work with somebody of the stature of John Wright is something which doesn't come along every day and I can't wait to get started," Donald said.
This is fantastic news for New Zealand Cricket. For far too long, our fast bowling has lacked penetration and venom. There was a brief hiatus whilst Shane Bond was on the scene, but now batsmen who face the Black Caps face a diet of medium-fast bowlers who rely on favourable pitch or atmospheric conditions for success.
Now of course White Lightning won't be bowling himself, which is a shame. Let's hope though that his influence can have a spin-off on someone like young Adam Milne, and that one day, we might see a Kiwi fast bowler performing feats such as this ...

Does no one realise it is the batting and particularly the top 6 that is the problem - not the bowling?
Or is Donald taken on as a batting coach too?
I think Wright will do the job with the top order, and indeed there were some promising signs in the Wellington test. If Donald can get our bowlers to have a bit more penetration, that will be great.
