Low output

Our blogging output has been pretyy minimal this week. As we blogged last week, we've been hit with a bout of shingles, and it's rather debilitating. It's not a condition that we would wish on anyone, friend or foe.

Clarity of thought has been in short supply, and we figure that if we can't say something coherent, it's best to stay silent. Hopefully we will turn the corner in the next few days, at which time normal business can be resumed.

But we've also had some time to do some thinking, and there are a couple of ideas germinating away, particularly with an eye on the election later in the year. We'll continue to process them as our addled brain permits, so watch this space.

Thanks to those who have shown concern for us, either by comments or e-mails; it's much appreciated. To paraphrase Mark Twain, rumours of our demise have been grossly exaggerated!

"Clarity of thought has been in short supply"

I guess that explains your 'Asset Sales' post then :-)

Perhaps it does Robert; or perhaps it explains the continued absence of the detailed one, which will appear in the fullness of time. I would happily sell the shingles, but they are probably more of a liability than an asset!

Warts can be sold Inv2, so I'd give it a go.
I don't think your 'detailed post' will help.
Most people I've talked to have a pretty simple reaction to the proposal to sell sizable chunks of the things we already own - NO!
Three issues are evident in their responses - National won't stop there, the 'kiwi mummys and daddys' who buy into the deals will be preyed upon by wealthy foreigners and will soon sell up for profit and we already own those assets so why should we have to buy them again.
Key will not be able to placate those concerns, they're deep and held by people who have no great interest in politics.
His very, very worst move and one I'm enjoying seeing this all unfold/unravel. I expect to see polls that 'show' that New Zealanders support key's plans, but at the ballot box, I expect to see those polls shown to be bogus.

Just to share the love Inv2 - here's my distilled version.

Asset sales are to John Key what mining the national parks was to Brownlee.

robertguyton you have amazing talent. Never before have I come across anyone who has such extraordinary ability to imitate a dead shit.

You epitomise everything that is wrong with New Zealand.

Pea sized brain. Neanderthal thought processes. Luddite reflexes. Intelligence of a Yorkshire bred shop steward. And above all else not a skerrick constructive thought.

I hope you enjoy your trip down the gurglar
