We've awoken this morning to the sight, sound and smell of some very welcome rain; the first of 2011.
Yesterday was an oppressive day here in the Riviera of the WCNI. Metservice had the maximum temperature at 29*, warm by Wanganui standards, but it was accompanied by almost suffocating humidity of the tropical variety. Even at 9.30pm last night, the temperature here was still around 25*, and sleep did not come easily.
It's a little bit cooler this morning with the rain; a mere 18.2*, but Metservice shows the humidity level at 96% and it feels like it. There's a southerly change promised for later in the day, and the sooner it gets here, the better. In the meantime our rural mates will be delighted to see some more rain, and it won't do the golf course any harm either!
