Some good news from McCarten

Matt McCarten writes about MMP in his Herald on Sunday column this morning. We're not going to comment on that; you can read it for yourself, and draw your own conclusions.

But we found his closing comment noteworthy; he writes:

* A quick update to those readers who have inquired about my cancer. I had surgery over Christmas and it appears my odds have improved remarkably. I may be around longer after all.

That's good news. We may be poles apart from McCarten in our ideology, but we respect his passion and his candour. We frequently disagree with the views that he expresses in his HoS column, so he provides good blog-fodder for us!

And so that it's good to see that he has made progress in what is reportedly a much more serious illness than he has let on. We wish him well; kia kaha Matt.
