The Friday Quote - 4 March 2011

In case you'd forgotten, there's a by-election tomorrow in the Botany electorate, where National's Jami-Lee Ross is expected to win comfortably, if anyone remembers to vote.

The Herald calls it Botany - the byelection everyone forgot and in its story come up with this gem (our emphasis added):

Meanwhile, Labour candidate Michael Wood visited the Manukau Institute of Technology, where he struck a chord with many people.

Trouble was, most of them, like Mr Wood, did not live in Botany and cannot vote tomorrow.

Ouch!

In all honesty Inv2, based on what I've seen of Mr Wood and Mr Ross, Wood is the better candidate by far. Ross seems insincere somehow, and shallow in his politics.

Not that I care who wins, just saying.

Well; there's not much interest for the Greens, is there Robert?

(Sorry; couldn't resist!)

I'm not sure what you base your assessment on Robert; but people I've spoken to in the electorate (real people, not bloggers) say that Cr Ross is a fine young man; unassuming, but with a maturity beyond his years. I guess we'll see in the fullness of time.
