Two minutes' silence

Like many New Zealanders, we will be observing two minutes of silent reflection at 12.51pm, one week on from Christchurch's disastrous earthquake. Staff will be joining us; it's a way that we can show solidarity with our staff and contractors from the Canterbury region.

We've also started fundraising. Although we will be personally supporting some of the various appeals that are out there, from a work point of view this is much more personal. We want to help our people on thye ground down there in a positive and tangible way, and that's where our efforts will be directed over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, we will stand in silence this afternoon. It's an opportunity for all New Zealanders to set aside their differences, and stand as one in support of the good folk of Christchurch. Let's do it!

Our accountant who just happens to reside and work in your fair River City called on Sunday to see how we were, here 30 something Kms from the epicenter of the 6.3 one week ago. It is so surreal to be so close and yet spared any additional damage while the city that has been something of a mother for my nearly 70 years as a citizen is devastated.
Gregor's is another significant act that defines us as a nation and was just soo appreciated.
Thankyou Gregor just for caring.
Thankyou Iv2 for your forum, thoughts and prayers it does mean something to us of the village of the dammed.
My thoughts on the pause of the nation are on Homepaddock and are just as relevant here a place where things really do matter in the tapestry of life.
