Asking questions ...

When we blogged about David Cunliffe's premature Budget poll last night, we included, rather speculatively, a possible question which could be posed to a Minister at Question Time today. And that was where we left it.

And so you can imagine our surprise when Louise Upston asked Finance Minister a supplementary question this afternoon that bore more than a passing resemblance to the one we posed last night. She asked:

What reports has he seen on public support for the Budget's direction?

You can see the exchange here, beginning around 3min 57sec, including graphic coverage of David Cunliffe's reaction, which to his credit was good-humoured.

But it didn't end there; Mrs Upston was given leave to table the results which have been taken down from the website, so they will be a part of the parliamentary record until the end of time. So we're feeling just a wee bit pleased with ourselves, modest bloggers though we are. One day Labour will master social media; until then, we will follow DPF's byline and "foment happy mischief"!

My prediction: This will come back to bite Trevor Mallard in the ass big time.

Very good IV2. Very good indeed.

I turned it off after her first question and missed the juicy bit at the end.

No doubt this will be classified as another rogue poll :)

Perhaps not a "rogue poll" per se Ele, but there has certainly been some rogue VRWC activity!

Nice one Iv2, I am sure Louise's thanks are in the mail.
Mallard being nice? did they amputate his marbles after the bike crash.

Thanks for the clip, Inventory. A wonderful exchange in the House and final outcome. Well done for initiating such political theatre.
