Frustration; part deux

Blogger dropped out again last night, which is a pain in the proverbial when you're wanting to blog. It's the second significant Blogger outage in less than two weeks.

We're now even more motivated to consider a migration to another blogging platform such as Wordpress. If someone with more technical nous than the technical neanderthals who blog here can give us a link to a "how to", we'd be most appreciative. With an archive of 4500+ posts, we'd like to move holus-bolus if that's possible, so any offers of help or advice will be gratefully accepted.

Do you prefer self-host (a) to use a blog as a service (b) ?

a) you can go bluehost / mediatemple - these guys got one click install (deadly easy) but you have to provide your own domain name.
This way you can customise look and feel and have more control but requires more maintenance work.

b) you can go for wordpress.com which basically very similar to blogspot, less maintenance work but also less customisable and suffer once in a while outage (even slightly worse, last time it got intruder).

Moving post from one blog to another is not a very big issue these days. Let me know what I can do to help ;)

Even Wordpress (.com or .org) can be painful and confusing. Why not go with an easier-to-use platform like Posterous? I use Posterous for a couple of sites andit's a breath of fresh air, I love it.
