We've awoken to a foul morning. It's blowing a gale, the rain has been bucketing down in the last hour, and the mild autumn weather of the last few weeks has been replaced by a distinct chill in the air.
It's not the nicest start to the week, but we shouldn't really complain. We missed out on the worst of the rain yesterday. Our farmer friends are happy though; they'be been having spring-like growth over the last few weeks, and the countryside is looking lush, with plenty of winter feed around.
And of course, it's Budget week; that may explain the chill in the air, because we have been softened up for a bleak budget. With the kitty empty, a record deficit and the country borrowing far too much, this election-year budget is not going to be a lolly scramble. Other parties are promising big, but are their promises affordable.
Naturally, we'll be devoting a fair bit of space to the Budget this week; it is after all a pretty significant event, especially with the General Election barely six months away; stay tuned!

Your own words Inventory2, yet still you tout for these incompetent fools!
May the saints preserve us from fools such as you and them.
Gibberellin. It's like this, M Cullen knew Labour were goneburger when doing his, thankfully, last budget and spent the lot. How do I know that, because he proudly told the media so. This was when he KNEW we were in a recession. The Nat lead Govt didn't realise how bad things were and then along comes 2 expensive devastating earthquakes. The majority of thinking people know the WORLD is in trouble and are thankful a Govt lead by Labour/Greens/NZ 1st was avoided.
jabba
You represent the deluded I see.
How you can stare at the f***up that National have foisted on the country and not see it for what it is, is something for a medical professional to look into, so I'll say no more, other than YOU'RE BLIND TO THE OBVIOUS - KEY HAS COMPLETELY FAILED TO DO WHAT YOU HOPED HE WOULD - SUCKER!
thanks for that Gibberellin. The problem is that there isn't an alternative to the Nats .. if you can't see that then not even the medical profession can help you.
I guess the poles are all wrong as well so the counrty is full of suckers aye .. thank goodness we have you.
