This week, the ideological right declared war against the rest of us.
The motivations behind Don Brash's coup are to finish the mad Rogernomics experiment on this country that started in 1984.
Brash and his cronies put the hapless Rodney Hide out of his misery.
The Act ragtags have been a dysfunctional bunch of nuts for some time, so in some ways Brash could argue he has done us all a favour.
"The Act ragtags have been a dysfunctional bunch of nuts" - has Matt taken a close look at the company he kept yesterday at the Mana Party launch - Sue Bradford, parenting guru; John Minto, Annette Sykes, who cheered when the 9/11 terrorist raids took place; Joe Carolan; and of course, Hone Harawira himself. Sheesh, even David "Cluster" Farrar's bete-noire Penny Bright was at the Mana Party launch yesterday!
If Matt McCarten really wants to see a "dysfunctional bunch of nuts", he doesn't need to look far. But of course, he doen't realise that. Still, if the Mana Party can cannibalise enough of the left-wing vote that the Greens miss out on seats in the next Parliament, who would we be to complain?
And lest we be accused of abuse,, may we remind you that the words used are Matt McCarten's, not our own. We are merely parodying them to illustrate the absurdity of his comment when one considers the company he keeps.
So all that we have to say to Matt McCarten this morning can be summed up in three words; pot; meet kettle!

Act are a dysfunctional bunch - made up of ex-Labour activists who see the free market as providing better social outcomes, ex-Nats who think the blue team lost their way, and Libertarianz who see Act as the way to push NZ towards a no Governmment approach.
Mana isn't going to steal white middle-class ecologist votes from the Greens - It's going to take brown underclass votes from Labour
Goff's got no fucking chance of 30% now -
the question is - can he keep Labour below 20%.
Key's already right on message to middle NZ: "If you don't want Brash as Finance Minister, vote National - a vote for anyone other than National is a vote for ACT."
This is absolutely the right message for National from now till the election.
While the Brash coup has turned me instantly into a committed National voter I hope there is some truth in McCarten's words and NZ moves closer to a "Rogernomics" type economy.

That's better KS.
