The shining wit of Riverton
is really in a flap
he tried to claim integrity
when he should have shut his trap
"The greenies are not gamers
of the system", Robert shouted
but he really has been shafted
as the Greens have been outed
They are simply just as dirty
as the others Robert hates
he's pissing into the wind again
trying to boost his mates
"My side is just sooooooo clean"
he wails with bluff intent
with all the sad conviction
of the barely five per cent
He sprays the crap around, does Rob,
with piss and wind and bluster
but covering for the hapless Greens
he looks like Colonel Fluster
Even the target of this little ditty was amused by it, and it certainly caused a belly laugh in the Inventory whare. We have our suspicions as to the source, but if the author would like to own up (anonymously, of course!), send us an e-mail; an occasional spot from a guest poet might just add to the diversity of Keeping Stock, just as James Stephenson's excellent Tour de France coverage has.
Anyway, thanks to our anonymous friend for his/her mirth-laden contribution; great stuff!! Without doubt it's the Comment of the Year thus far, and it may just be the best comment we've ever received!

Shining wit?
is that a Spoonerism?
FFM - not being the author, I can neither confirm nor deny...
I like it. He's gone to some effort to counter my provocations and hits the mark.
I'm busy composing a reply Inv2, and expect you'll want to feature that as a full post :-)
Fairfax - I despair of you!
I'm Spartacus!
I would change Colnel Fluster to Hopeless Bullshitting Troll.
RG - do us all a favour and don't bother to counter this.
There's merit in your suggestion pdm, but it doesn't rhyme!
I'm all for Robert having his say; people can judge his contribution on its merits or the lack thereof.
"Old Piddums, lazy cat
Couldn't catch a tethered rat!
Had a chance to do just that
But sat and sat and sat and sat..."
Let's perform an inventory :-)
Act: Scandals and embarrassments galore!
'Perkmeister Hide', Crazy-eyes Calvert, 'Ejector-Roy', 'Entitled Douglas', David 'dead-baby' Garrett, John 'I'll finish them off' Ansell.
Labour: (see Keeping Stock for exhaustive/obsessive list of misdemeanours)
National: (see KS 'sister' blog NoRightTurn for similar list - think* Warner Bros, the Dipton housing rort, Richard Worth, the Wongs, the BMWs, etc etc etc etc).
The Greens: Nothing. A clean slate. Unruffled water.
'Tibetan flag!' you screech!
'Russel's got red hair' you whine!
'Metiria wears a silly thing around her neck - what does she think she is - Maori!! you plead.
Yes. Outrageous. Corrupt. Despicable.
Only idiots would vote for those Satanic demons.
Eh!
The Greens: Nothing. A clean slate. Unruffled water.
Retirment housing scheme (and if for one second Rob, you claim this was within the rules, you must relinquish the Double Dipper from Dipton stick (H/T: Philu)
That's it?
That's the counter-punch?
If that's all there is? Even if you throw in the devastating 'Russel was shoe-horned in' mega-scandal, you got the Greens looking head and shoulders above the rest.
The general public believes, quite rightly, that the Greens are clean, don't play the unscrupulous games the other parties play and, while they might be a bit 'overly-sincere and excitable', are good people.
The general public believes, thanks to the inept MSM and the sterling PR work of nana Fitzsimons, that the Greens are clean, don't play the unscrupulous games the other parties play and, while they might be a bit 'overly-sincere and excitable', are good people.
FIFY.
That's it?
That's the counter-punch
FFS your beloved melons are at 6.3% according to DPF, and I don't believe in kicking a man when he's down.
"According to DPF"
If the proclamation came from On High, we must take it as writ!
The Greens, "down"?
You are an entertainment Ciaron. A little lame, but it's good to start the day with a chuckle.
"Down!"
Lordy!
The Greens were up in the 3News poll Robert; sure. But don't forget; it's less than two weeks since the Roy Morgan poll had the Greens at 5.5%, their lowest result since the 2005 election. DPF's 6.3% is a rolling average over the four main polls (One News, 3News, Herald Digipoll and Roy Morgan), and as such, is probably a better reflection than any one of the polls in isolation.
I must say though; Russel Norman looked good yesterday, hamming it up in questions to the PM. It's a pity he lost count though, and used up all his supplementaries. Might he and Metiria be co-Leaders of the Opposition come November?
DPF a 'rolling average'!
Classic Inv2!
Russel and Metiria have played the long game elegantly. They're still playing it Inv2 and the ain't aiming for the Opposition Benches!
Enough comment about DPF's girth Robert; you risk incurring the wrath of the blog-owner, who isn't exactly Twiggy.
And anyway, the VRWC has officially re-named DPF as David "Happy Feet" Farrar; the Emperor Penguin of the Blogosphere!
