For the second time in just a few days we are going into bat for Idiot/Savant at No Right Turn; today, under the heading Goffiing it up he blogs:
Is there anything Phil Goff can't stuff up?
Earlier in the year, they distributed 800,000 "Stop Asset Sales" postcards, designed to raise awareness of the government's plans to give our state-owned electricity companies to their rich mates. It was a simple message, and well crafted. But thanks to Labour's arrogance and its continued refusal to admit they were wrong over their pledge card in 2005, they've now been referred to the police for breaching electoral advertising rules.
The problem? The cards did not bear a promoter statement, as required by the Electoral Act. Why? Because, in an effort to avoid the headline "Labour uses Parliamentary funds for election advertising - again", Labour pretended that they weren't election advertisements. But that's bullshit. The cards can clearly reasonably be regarded as encouraging people to vote Labour, or at least not vote National. Which makes them election advertisements.
Contrary to Grant Robertson's attempts to minimise the crime, this is not a "minor technical breach". It is a serious violation of electoral law, with a penalty of a $40,000 fine. And Labour deserves to be socked with it. They have deliberately and premeditatedly flouted a core provision of the laws which ensure our elections have integrity. We should have no pity on them when they are held to account.
We couldn't agree more with Idiot/Savant on this issue. We made the point when we blogged about Labour's spin on Saturday that "it is ludicrous to think that this flyer is anything other than an attempt to influence those who read it to give their vote to Labour." Idiot/Savant clearly agrees.
It is not every day that there is such unanimity between the Left and the Right. Idiot/Savant is savage in his criticism of Labour, and sheets the responsibility squarely on the Leader. We couldn't agree more.

"Goffing it up"
That term will be the new black in how to wreck a political party.
an issue her KS, is that if Labour get away with it, then National and ACT could do the same .. even the dumbarse Greens could avoid the rule designed to prevent cashed up parties getting their message out there.
I suspect that the next move will be bring out the threat of taxpayer funded ads with a limited budget, something the left have always wanted
'The new black in how to wreck a political party'
Isn't that 'the new yellow?
And the term's more likely to be 'Brashin' it!'
Jabba, you know as well as I do that the Greens would never game the system, the way the other parties do.
We have integrity (look it up).

What is that little trick the Greens use where their Superannuation fund buys houses which are then rented back to Green MPs at maximum rental paid by the taxpayer called, Robert?
(It is not listed under integrity in the dictionary,Robert)
Stop changing the subject Robert; this post is about a left-wing blogger absolutely putting the boot into Phil Goff and Labour.
Or indeed where you shoulder-tap a couple of prospective trough-snufflers to stand aside so your new leader can get into parliament early and access some extra funding?
I'll tolerate James' post because he's one of the team and he asks a very good question; what DID you think of Mike Ward and Cath Delahunty getting shafted in 2008 Robert, so that Russel could come into Parliament for a few months and campaign on the taxpayer dollar?
to be honest, I don't blame the Greens for breaking a rule to try and keep Delahunty and Mike Ward out .. mind you, Delahunty is now an MP so there you go.
and yes people, I also chuckled at Bobbys use of the word integrity.
in fact, it's a little like Mallard complaining to the Speaker that Bill English lied in the house
Robert? Hello Robert. Where are you when the petinent questions are asked. Oh, of course, you are here for some purposes but not for others.
He's probably got a meeting to got to, or an apple tree to graft, or... or...
Apologies Inv, I've always been apt to bite and head off on a tangent...
No apology required James; you're part of the management team now, so you can set the agenda.
The chips are truly down for the Act Party.
Sure proof of that is the sight and sound of it's devotees, sweeping out into the world, filled with vengeful wrath and the urge to transfer their pain to someone else - and who better than a Greenie with integrity. I don't mind at all guys. The elation that I'm feeling from the last couple of days of self-immolation from Brash, Ansell and Key means your barbs bounce harmlessly off my hide (sorry to use that word fellas, I know it brings those painful memories up to the surface again, like shoaling piranha) and I don't care a jot for them.
You're perennial complaints about the Greens? Pfffffffffftttttt
They didn't fly then, they won't fly now - rant all you will, it's just so much p*ssing into the wind. Garrett's foibles, now that's another thing, and Hide's perkalicious holidays, oh dear, should I go on? Let's stick to the facts lads. Your imagined bleatings have no substance.
Off topic again Robert?
Just answer the question; there's a good Greenie...
The Greens are just soooooo clean that it fair twists you up, doesn't it.
Inv2 - you ought to make a permanant link to your ol' mate and like-minded pal Idiot/Savant's blog to save everyone the trouble of searching for it. Odd that just a short time ago, I/S was on your black-list.
Always been one of my favourites, NoRightTurn.
What DID I think of... who cares Inv2???
And what's it got to do with Labour's election advertising?
You're losing the plot and thread-jacking your own thread! I've never seen the like!
"Stop changing the subject Robert; this post is about a left-wing blogger absolutely putting the boot into Phil Goff and Labour."
Lordy!
The shining wit of Riverton
is really in a flap
he tried to claim integrity
when he should have shut his trap
"The greenies are not gamers
of the system", Robert shouted
but he really has been shafted
as the Greens have been outed
They are simply just as dirty
as the others Robert hates
he's pissing into the wind again
trying to boost his mates
"My side is just sooooooo clean"
he wails with bluff intent
with all the sad conviction
of the barely five per cent
He sprays the crap around, does Rob,
with piss and wind and bluster
but covering for the hapless Greens
he looks like Colonel Fluster
Comment of the Year!!!
Well done Anon; I'm just grateful that I didn't have a mouthful of tea when I read that or I'd be needing a new 'puter. Great stuff!
You don't often see doggerel like that these days - nicely crafted, satisfying rhyme and rhythm and carefully spelled, but its entire lack of substance does render it somewhat valueless. Still, beats the previous contributions hands down. Nice work Gravy!
Nonsence Robert; every word is true! Colonel Fluster; ROFLMAO!
"They are simply just as dirty
as the others"
That just can't be substantiated Anonymous Bard, and the reason for that is, it's just not true!
But despite that feeble come-back of mine, I'm retiring, beaten!
Not lost for words are you Rob?
Battle resumes tomorrow; g'nite
At around 0715 hrs today I thought I had posted as follows.
I knew I shudda copyrighted that Shining Wit line but I am not the author of the verse from ananymous how ever green it leaves me, as a cleverer person with the language than I, employed it so well.
The Key words really.
You're off the hook then Gravedodger; I did have my suspicions, because that "Shining Wit" line is certainly yours, if not yours alone.
Not quite alone.
Keeping Stock March 7.
