The Clown of Campbells Bay, Andrew Williams has been “selected” by NZ First for North Shore. I would have thought he would’ve got the hint when he was thrown from office at the local body elections.
Our first reaction, given the source, was to think that it might be a wind-up. So we went to Andrew Williams' Facebook Page, and it is just as Cam Slater reports. Although the hyperlink for the FB page still reads Mayor Andrew Williams, the page itself is entitled Andrew Williams NZ First, and the first line of his bio refers to the former North Shore mayor as North Shore electorate candidate for 2011 General Election at New Zealand First
Obviously, this is kosher, and that being the case, it has, until now, flown under the radar. So it begs the question; has Winston Peters lost the plot? Peters has obviously never read of any of the antics of North Shore's Leaky Mayor, as he was dubbed by the media after an unfortunate liaison with a tree late one evening. We don't know either whether Winston knows about the abusive texts and e-mails sent to a variety of people in the dark of night.
The people of North Shore soon realised that they had made a big mistake in 2007. When they had the opportunity to vote again three years later, Williams not only failed in his bid for the Auckland mayoralty, but he was also rejected as a councillor. He now seeks office with NZ First, and we can only conclude that Winston Peters isn't as sharp as he used to be. Nothing happens in NZ First without Winston's say-so, and we can only conclude that the Leaky Mayor's exploits have passed Winston by. After all, NZ First is the only principled party... (tongue-in-cheek moment)

At least Winston will have a drinking mate - perhaps that is the motive.
Perhaps it is pdm. Winston is well known for being a night-owl, although I understand that he was also generally restrained in terms of what he consumed. The same can probably not be said for the NZ First candidate for North Shore.
Well that confirms one electorate for the elusive WRP. He is not standing for North Shore.
