Weatherston appeal dismissed

Clayton Weatherston's appeal dismissed by Supreme Court "no appearance that there may have been a substantial miscarriage of justice"

The family of Sophie Elliott will doubtless be delighted to hear this news. It's no surprise that Weatherston pursued his appeal all the way to our highest Court, but the Court has now ruled that there was no miscarriage of justice, and has refused leave for Weatherston to appeal.

The Clayton Weatherston trial was one of the more bizarre trials in recent years. We have little doubt at all that the jury's verdict was absolutely correct, and we look forward to Weatherston serving the rest of his lengthy sentence in silence and anonymity, now that he has exhausted his legal remedies.
