A Capital idea from Hone

Which political party in New Zealand advocates capital punishment? Surprisingly, it would seem to be the Mana Party; 3News reports:

Controversial MP Hone Harawira's calling for the captain of the stricken vessel the Rena to be hanged over the environmental disaster the ship has caused in the Bay of Plenty.

Around 350 tonnes of oil have spilled from the ship since its grounding on the Astrolabe Reef, off the Tauranga coast, a fortnight ago.

The ship's captain and navigation officer reappeared in Tauranga District Court on Wednesday, charged under the Maritime Act with "operating a vessel in a mannercausing unnecessary danger or risk".

The charge carries a maximum penalty of $10,000 fine or 12 months' prison and officials say more charges may follow.

Mana Party leader Mr Harawira wants a strong punishment for the Rena's captain.

"Hanging the poor bugger might sound a bit harsh, but somebody should pay," he said.

"Maybe we can send the Rena captain home with a stern warning and put [Transport Minister] Steven Joyce up on the gallows in his place."

What's next; Winston Peters launching another tirade about Asians? There must be an election coming up...

A new take on fighting to the death?

$10,000 ? I tend to agree with Hone. In China the captain would 'dead man walking'.

If Hone wants a feed, he should buy his own meat, rather than expect the government to provide it for him.

We were in Morocco recently - just after a bomb was detonated in a crowded restaurant in Marrakesh killing quite a few. As we walked past the site in Dejemaa-el Fna Square we asked our guide about it. He said 3 men had been arrested. When we asked what would happen to them he replied, "they got a fair trial, and were executed".
Hone style justice.

This is very good, Inv2. You won't allow talk of John Key's throat-slitting in the House, but you give Hone his own full post for a joking comment. Liking this!

What do you mean I "won't allow comment" Robert? You've done nothing but comment on that for two weeks now!

heard boobys new best friend forever, Hone H, on the radio last night saying how he had travelled to Tauranga and stopped at all the little towns up north on his travels. Now Hone, as with booby and the greens, you have to ask how he travelled to all these places .. was there petrol/oil involved?
even bObs bike that he loves so dearly came from mining etc BUT the moron just ignores that fact
