Blog silence

Before we go to bed tonight, we'll be turning off the comments function on Keeping Stock. The rules as put out by the Electoral Commission specify that, and we'll be complying.

We're also not allowed any fresh political content on Election Day, but that doesn't mean to say that we might not have a post timed to appear at 23.59hrs tonight! In addition, we'll be keeping a low profile on Twitter and Facebook tomorrow.

It all seems a bit silly, but even when the law is an ass it's still the law, and we respect it. Comments will be turned on again at 7pm when we settle ourselves down in front of the telly to await the first results.

We'll try to post some non-political content tomorrow, just so that you (and we!) don't suffer from withdrawl symptoms. Tomorrow night should be all action though as we see what democracy has dished us up for the next three years.

Law or a guideline?

Link, please.

Law, as I understand it; it forbids the publication of any election material after midnight Friday

I'm kind of surprised that there's no post on Arsenal's qualification for the next round of the Champions League ahead of Man U and Chelski!

James, now that is a surprise! The non mention of the Arse that is.

Busy day tomorrow.

Running around in the morning with Kids and a sneaky visit to the yacht club to help start a race then off to polling booth 1 to a) vote and then to polling booth 2 to b) do some scrutineering.
The feet up on the couch baby-sitting as the wife goes out with mates.

How many prosecutions will there be for inadvertent non compliance with signage and overt activity around "ASSISTING" the lame, the halt and the demented cast their vote.

If the law is an ass, then in my view we have a duty to defy it. (ref. Lord Blackstone?)
Crusader Rabbit will be putting up a post concerning the elections on Saturday morning.
