Dirty deals

Expect to see Patrick Gower up in arms this evening on 3News at another dirty deal going on in a marginal electorate. Check this out:

Kevin Hague
I did Party Vote Green last Friday (and electorate vote O'Connor). Is it forbidden for me to mention that?

That's right dear readers. Kevin Hague, the Green Party candidate in West Coast-Tasman hasn't even voted for himself, instead giving his vote to Labour's Damien O'Connor (he of the "gaggle of gays and self-serving unionists" quip), in what will be a very close contest with National's Chris Auchivole, the sitting MP for the electorate. He's even boasting about it via social media!

Having led a campaign against dirty deals under MMP (even though they are completely legal), will Gower show his outrage tonight? Or is it only a dirty deal when the Right is involved?

That is a new low for this blog. Criticising someone for how they exercise their vote and calling it a dirty deal.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm not at all ashamed Big News. Look at all the media fuss with asking Paul Goldsmith if he'll be voting for himself. You'd think a candidate at least would vote for himself, and it's Kevin's choice, not mine, to put that information into the public domain.

I would have thought that candidates can vote for whomever they want to, without criticism, in an election where a party vote is the main vote.

They can; and Kevin Hague has exercised his right to do just that. He's also made it public information via Twitter.

Strategic voting is a part of MMP. West Coast-Tasman is a highly marginal electorate. So how is a Green candidate voting for the Labour candidate any different from National Party supporters voting for John Banks or Peter Dunne?

Patrick Gower has been making a huge issue of this, and that's what the post is about; double standards. No-one seems to be upset that the Greens, although standing candidates in most if not all electorates are only seeking party votes.

Very odd that. No one is upset over the Green's behaviour at all. What's wrong with people, can't they see that the Greens are as dishonest as National? Russel Norman is just as devious and untrustworthy as John Key, can't people see that?

both Labour and the Nats will have to at least pretend to support mining so for ANY Green supporter let alone an MP voting for a pro mining party is amazing

How many sauteed dead rats would that be jabba.

Don't hold back, KS. Big News is carrying on like a moaning twat. He's too focused on his beloved Green Party to even read the post properly before jumping to conclusions.
