Goal of the season?

The Wellington Phoenix had a rare 2011 victory yesterday against Sydney FC; just their second win of the 2011-12 A-League season.

And on the way to their win, Tim Brown might just have scored the goal of the season; check this out:

It was a moment of brilliance from the 'Nix midfielder. He spotted that Sydney 'keeper Liam Reddy was off his line, and his placement of the shot was inch-perfect. What will take a lot of beating as goal of the season propelled the Phoenix to a well-deserved win.

With players returning from injury and the side looking a lot more settled, expect more good results from the Wellington Phoenix in the next few weeks.

They also produced, just after half-time I think, the miss of the century

It will go close to goal of the year. When he received the ball and started looking like shooting I was yelling...no no no, very quickly turned howls of you effing beauty!!!! All in all a good result from the lads and with people starting to return from Injury now, Ifill, Pavlovich, Lia, Sanchez (due soon) things are looking a brighter. Looks like another nailbiting season with only 2 points seperating third place and 2nd bottom.

Despite some doom and gloom around with ownership, squad size etc, the signs are looking ok with the actual football being played at as good a standard as I can remember at this time of the year.
