Pink Floyd will forever be remembered for their album Dark Side of the Moon. And playing drums on that iconic album was Nick Mason.
Mason did well out of Pink Floyd. And he's become one of the world's foremost collectors of classic and vintage cars. There's a pictorial overview of his collection here and it's a pretty impressive collection!
But this week Nick Mason is visiting Wanganui. He's the guest of honour at the VCC International Rally which we have blogged about previously. 3News caught up with him; you can see the story here.
One of the highlights of Mason's week will be the competition day at Manfield on Saturday, where dozens of classic cars will be put through their paces on the track. He'll be behind the wheel of a Ford GT40.
Nick Mason brings a bit of rock and roll pizzaz to the rally in Wanganui, which has already been a huge success. Doubtless he'll be mixing with the crowds during Sunday's Open Day at the Wanganui Racecourse, where around 700 cars will be on display; a must see for car buffs, and part of Wanganui's Heritage Weekend. We might see you there!
